In Need of Advice: Yeast

Who can help a mama out?

Question: What do you do for yeast? My little guy just came down sick and now has a yeasty rash. I'm trying rinsing his bottom with a cidar vinegar wipe solution. I'm not ready to pull out the gentian violet. As for the diapers I washed on hot (that's in most of the instructions anyway) And I put the dryer on high for the last few minutes (I wish it were summer so I could sun them). I'm freaked out by the washing instruction on my bumGenius 4.0 to put bleach in the wash once a month. And, I'm considering boiling my prefolds. The last 2 days I've been putting him in them with out a cover so he gets more air and letting him have naked time.

Please leave a comment if you have some experience or advice!

  1. I am dealing with this right now with my daughter. I ended up ditching the cloth for a bit to put some lovely Monistat on her "area" that wouldn't respond to any home remedies I tried. I need to deep clean my diapers now so I can get back on track, but you can always try yogurt as a cream. It didn't work for my daughter MASSIVE rash/yeast, but it may work for your son. Plus, try giving him an OTC probiotic. Not great sound advice, but I am in the same boat! HA! Good Luck!

  2. I was dealing with this with my daughter about 3 weeks ago tried everything and nothing seemed to work finally broke down and the doctor prescribed her nystatin cream to apply at every diaper change and had to use disposables for a while. But it has finally cleared up and she is back to her cloth diapers with no problem. Good Luck

  4. Tea tree cream topically in appropriate areas. Also a powdered or drop probiotic and some grapefruit or olive leaf extract in small amounts. Oregano cream is also good.
